In 2005, three friends—Jan Vana, Lars Malmsten, and Steffen Sundelius—set out to change the eyewear industry. They wanted to create an alternative to traditional brands, designing frames that blended vintage aesthetics with a modern twist. Drawing inspiration from the ‘50s and ‘60s, they combined timeless style with pop culture influences. The result? Eyewear that enhances personal style and can be worn with confidence and pride.
Vasuma is based in Stockholm’s historic Old Town, housed in a 15th-century building where their warehouse, showroom, and office come together under one roof. This space serves as a hub of creativity, challenging norms and shaping the future of eyewear fashion.
The vision has always been to create more than just accessories—Vasuma frames make a statement. The brand was born from a desire to empower those who were once teased for wearing glasses. The Swedish term glasögonorm ("glasses snake"), once used as an insult, became Vasuma’s strength. Each frame is named after a snake, paying tribute to everyone who has ever been called one.
What started as a passion project has grown into a global brand, now available in over 1,000 stores worldwide.
