Vasuma Alley Sessions 1 - SUNNAN LIVE 10 MARCH, 2026
Sunnan opened the very first Vasuma Alley Session. An intimate live performance recorded in our alley in Gamla Stan, where voices carried through the room and the music settled in close.
The amazing Sunnan opened the very first Vasuma Alley Session on March 10, 2026. The Stockholm based band has built a sound of their own somewhere between cinematic pop, desert soul and atmospheric soundscapes. They describe it as spaghetti soul, warm, dusty and groove driven, which made them a natural choice to inaugurate the series.
Sunnan
Sunnan consists of musicians deeply rooted in the Swedish music scene, including Aron Blom, Robin Lindvall, Kalle Perlskog, Pär Stenhammar and Theo Kylin. Together they form a band that blends layered guitars, groove driven rhythms, rich vocal harmonies and subtle sonic textures into something that feels both cinematic and grounded.
Their music moves between atmosphere and rhythm, combining electric and acoustic instruments with details that give the band its distinct character. The result is a sound that feels warm, understated and quietly transportive, with a strong sense of identity running through it.
The band gained attention with their debut album Cinema and the EP Cinema Sound System, both of which received Swedish Grammy nominations, with Cinema Sound System nominated for this year’s awards. Over the past two years, the band has received three nominations in total, including one for the music video of My Love For You, and were also nominated at this year’s P3 Guld awards. They have also collaborated with artists such as Titiyo on The Sound (Make it Come Back).

“Sweet vocal harmonies, Morricone-style whistling and twelve-string guitars. So dazzlingly beautiful I need sunglasses.”

THE LIVE SESSION
For the first Vasuma Alley Session, Sunnan transformed the Vasuma space at Kåkbrinken into an intimate setting that felt closer to a living room than a stage. The room was lit in soft red tones, echoing the visual identity surrounding the band, while the audience sat only a few steps away.
The setup was stripped back but still carried the character of Sunnans sound. Aron Blom played a Gibson Firebird electric guitar, Theo Kylin played the twelve string acoustic guitar, and Robin Lindvall held down the low end on baritone. Small bongos and hand percussion added rhythm and texture, alongside wooden sticks tapping against hollow instruments.
Five microphones were placed close together in the room, capturing what quickly became the heart of the performance: the voices. The harmonies shifted and blended between the band members, creating a sound that felt both effortless and powerful.
During My Love For You, Pär stepped forward and sang through the band’s signature red megaphone, recreating the hollow, distant sound from the recording.
Despite the stripped back setting, Sunnans musical identity came through clearly. The groove, textures and atmosphere were all there, and the closeness between band and audience created a warm and genuine feeling in the room.
During the session, the audience also heard the band’s newest single Longing to Miss You for the first time ahead of its release on March 13.
The evening marked the beginning of Vasuma Alley Sessions - a small room, a handful of invited guests, and music allowed to exist exactly as it is.
